Pawnbrokers may hold precious metals, coins, and bullion for only 3 business days before resale (reduced from 14-21 days for other goods), provided they submit transaction records electronically to law enforcement

Pawnbroker license applicants must submit fingerprints from a local law enforcement agency for an FBI criminal background check to determine licensing eligibility

Licensed pawnbrokers must resubmit fingerprints every 3 years or as required by the FBI to verify continued suitability for licensure

Applicants remain ineligible for licensure if convicted of a felony within the past 10 years, and must post a $10,000 bond payable to the State of Mississippi

Effective date is July 1, 2026
