Used motor vehicle parts dealers and scrap metal processors may now use third-party vendors that meet Department of Revenue requirements to verify vehicle lien status before purchasing or receiving vehicles for scrapping, dismantling, or destruction

Previously, these dealers were required to use only the Department of Revenue's automated statewide motor vehicle registration system for lien verification

The third-party vendor option provides an alternative compliance method while maintaining the requirement that vendors meet DOR standards
