Guy Lee Hovis, Jr. (September 24, 1941 – January 22, 2026) was a Tupelo, Mississippi native who performed on The Lawrence Welk Television Show from 1970 to 1982 and recorded 15 albums during his career

Hovis graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1963 with a B.S. in Accounting and served in the United States Army, completing Artillery Officer Candidate School at Fort Sill and Paratrooper School at Fort Benning

After his television career, he returned to Mississippi in 1990 and served as Director of State Operations for U.S. Senator Trent Lott for 17 years, and performed at the 2005 Presidential Inauguration for George W. Bush

Hovis was inducted into the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame and contributed to Hurricane Katrina relief through the Mississippi Rising television special that raised millions of dollars

The resolution extends the Mississippi Legislature's condolences to his surviving family, including his wife Sarah "Sis" Lundy Hovis, and presents the resolution to his family
