Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers Women's Basketball Team won the NJCAA Region 23 Championship with a 60-55 victory over Pearl River Community College, finishing the 2025-2026 season with a 23-8 overall record and 11-3 conference record.

Head Coach LaTaryl Williams led the team to their first national tournament appearance since 2005, with tournament victories over Jones College and Itawamba Community College en route to the championship.

Key players included Dekyra Mitchell (17.0 points per game), Alorian Story (16.3 points and 13.3 rebounds per game), Takera Bland, and point guard Layla Hampton.

The Rangers ranked among the region's top defensive teams, holding opponents to 45.2 points per game while averaging 43.4 rebounds per contest and maintaining a +17.5 scoring margin.

The Mississippi Senate formally commends the team and directs the resolution be presented to the team, coaching staff, college administration, and Board of Trustees.
