Sam Hubbard is retiring as Deputy Commissioner of the Mississippi Department of Banking and Consumer Finance on June 30, 2026, after over 36 years of service at the agency

Hubbard began his career in January 1990 as an Examiner Trainee, progressed through all levels of the Banking Division including two stints as Chief Examiner, and served as Director of the Banking Division from 2015 to 2021

As Deputy Commissioner since 2021, he directed all DBCF activities including oversight of banking, consumer, and mortgage industries, examination processes, legislative recommendations, and policy formulation

Hubbard holds certifications from the Conference of State Bank Supervisors as a Certified Operations Examiner, Certified Credit Examiner, Certified Examiner in Charge, and Certified Examiner Manager

He graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1989 with a business degree and also holds a degree from the LSU Graduate School of Banking
