Recognizes the 50th anniversary of Mu Xi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, founded November 6, 1976, at the University of Southern Mississippi

Alpha Phi Alpha was the first intercollegiate fraternity established by African American men, founded December 4, 1906, at Cornell University, and has initiated over 300,000 members since its founding

The chapter began when Brothers Mance Langham and Charles Johnson, along with the Mu Gamma Lambda Alumni Chapter in Hattiesburg, applied for a Metropolitan Chapter encompassing students from USM, William Carey College, and surrounding junior colleges

Sixteen charter members known as "The Untouchable 16" were initiated in 1976, and over 350 men have since joined the chapter, becoming PhDs, NFL players, judges, mayors, Fortune 500 executives, and other professionals

Extends best wishes from the Mississippi Senate to the chapter and directs that the resolution be presented to Mu Xi Chapter for distribution
