Vehicle owners in Montana may voluntarily cancel or suspend their vehicle registration through a process established by department rulemaking, with all adult co-owners required to consent

Vehicles with canceled or suspended registrations are prohibited from being driven on public roads, and owners must remove license plates upon cancellation if the vehicle is in their possession

Drivers who operate a vehicle with canceled or suspended registration are liable for all tolls, fines, and damages arising from that operation

Vehicle owners may implead (bring into a lawsuit) the driver of their canceled/suspended registration vehicle in any legal action for monetary damages from the vehicle's operation

Amends Section 61-14-101, MCA to require the department to adopt rules for voluntary cancellation/suspension procedures, including rules for ending a voluntary suspension
