Creates a new criminal offense of assault on an employee of a public utility (as defined in 69-3-101) when a person purposely or knowingly causes bodily injury, serious bodily injury, or reasonable apprehension of serious bodily injury using a weapon

Bodily injury, threatening with a weapon, or bodily injury with a weapon carries up to 10 years in state prison and up to $50,000 fine

Threatening with what reasonably appears to be a weapon carries up to 8 years in state prison and up to $50,000 fine

Serious bodily injury carries up to 20 years in state prison and up to $50,000 fine, or both

Would be codified in Title 45, chapter 5, part 2 of Montana Code (assault offenses)
