Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services prohibited from requiring prior authorization under Medicaid for FDA-approved antipsychotic drugs when prescribed for approved indications to members 18 years of age and older

Intended to remove barriers to timely treatment of serious mental illnesses for adult Medicaid recipients

Does not require the department to cover antipsychotic drugs that are not otherwise eligible for Medicaid coverage under federal law (42 U.S.C. 1396r-8)

Effective 30 days after passage and approval, applying to claims submitted for services provided on or after the effective date
