County and municipal water/sewer systems must provide service to proposed subdivisions that request connection when the subdivision boundary is within 501 to 1,000 feet of any system component

Connection is required only if the public system is DEQ-approved, in compliance with state regulations, has adequate capacity, holds appropriate water rights, and authorizes the connections

Department of Environmental Quality must amend ARM 17.36.123 to align administrative rules with these new statutory connection requirements

Applies to subdivisions undergoing review under Title 76, chapters 3 or 4 (Montana subdivision and platting regulations)

Effective immediately upon passage and approval
