Speech-language pathology aides and audiology aides employed by Montana school districts are not required to obtain a license from the Board of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists

Aides must work under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist or audiologist for a minimum of 20% of their work time

Aides are prohibited from performing work that requires the independent judgment of a licensed speech-language pathologist or audiologist

The board must establish rules for qualifications and permitted activities for school district aides, but these rules cannot be more restrictive than the statutory requirements

The act is effective upon passage, with a transition to board-adopted rules occurring 30 days after the board finalizes implementing regulations
