Requests the Legislative Council to assign an interim committee or staff to study how the Montana Department of Justice shares personal information from driver records with government agencies and businesses

Study must examine why personal information is shared, what data is disclosed, where it is sent, and how receiving entities use the information

Study will investigate whether personal information sharing generates revenue for the Department of Justice and how the department tracks which organizations receive data

Montana Driver Privacy Protection Act (2001) created state restrictions on driver record disclosures that are more restrictive than federal law (18 U.S.C. 2721)

Study must be completed by September 15, 2026, with final results reported to the 70th Legislature
