Legislative Council to designate an interim or statutory committee to conduct a comprehensive study on water reuse (water recycling) in Montana, with findings reported to the 70th Legislature

Study must examine existing statutes, administrative rules, and current reuse infrastructure including volume, timing, and availability of recycled water

Committee to analyze how other states have implemented water reuse programs and identify which non-agricultural industries and geographic areas in Montana currently use or could benefit from water recycling

Study to identify legal, economic, and social barriers preventing water reuse implementation and determine what factors necessitate such programs

All study aspects must be concluded by September 15, 2026, with the committee authorized to propose legislation to incentivize water reuse if necessary
