Prohibits the Department of Public Health and Human Services from removing a child from their home under temporary investigative authority alone in child abuse and neglect cases

Requires the department to file a separate petition for immediate protection and emergency protective services under section 41-3-427 if it seeks to remove a child beyond the immediate removal provisions

Maintains the department's ability to petition courts for temporary investigative authority for up to 90 days to investigate allegations of child abuse, neglect, or abandonment

Amends section 41-3-433, MCA to create a clearer separation between investigation powers and child removal powers
