29 designated state agencies must annually report to the Office of Budget and Program Planning on all financial assistance provided directly or indirectly to tribal nations, councils, or governments in Montana

Reports must include amount distributed, date, recipient tribal entity, purpose, federal assistance listing number, program name, overhead rates charged, and any amounts retained by the state agency

Agency reports are due by November 1 each year; the Office of Budget and Program Planning must compile and submit a summary report by December 1 to the State-Tribal Relations Committee, Legislative Finance Committee, Office of State Director of Indian Affairs, and each federally recognized tribe

Financial assistance includes grants, contracts, cooperative agreements, loans, loan guarantees, property, insurance, direct appropriations, and electronic benefit transfer cards (excludes cash assistance directly to individuals)

Effective July 1, 2025; compiled report must be posted on the Office of State Director of Indian Affairs website
