Prohibits a political party from appointing a replacement candidate when the original candidate is disqualified under Article IV, Section 8 of the Montana Constitution (which addresses qualification requirements for state offices)

Maintains existing rules allowing party replacement appointments when a candidate dies or withdraws before the filing deadline

Preserves the party's ability to appoint a post-primary candidate when the original candidate dies after the filing deadline or is disqualified from appearing on the primary ballot under Section 13-37-126

Continues existing prohibitions on party appointments when no candidate filed for the office before the primary or when the ballot certification deadline has passed

Takes effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor
