Creates a new "line of duty disability" benefit category for municipal police officers and firefighters who become disabled as a direct result of their service, with benefits equal to 50% of final average compensation (under 20 years service) or 2.5% per year of service (20+ years)

Eliminates the conversion of disability retirement benefits to service retirement benefits when members reach normal retirement age for police and firefighter retirement systems

Removes the requirement for ongoing medical examinations of disability retirees once they attain normal retirement age

Applies retroactively to police officers and firefighters who became disabled in the line of duty on or before January 1, 2025

Takes effect immediately upon passage and approval
