First offense sexual assault penalties increase from maximum $500 fine and 6 months jail to maximum $1,000 fine and 1 year jail

Second offense penalties increase from maximum $1,000 fine and 1 year jail to maximum $5,000 fine and 5 years imprisonment

Third and subsequent offense penalties increase from maximum 5 years imprisonment to maximum 10 years imprisonment

Second offense sexual assault convictions now trigger mandatory sexual offender registration requirements, previously only required for third offenses or aggravated circumstances

Amends Montana Code Annotated sections 45-5-502 (sexual assault) and 46-23-502 (sexual offender definitions)
