Amends Section 2 of Article VII of the North Carolina Constitution to establish that no person convicted of a felony is eligible to serve as Sheriff.

Applies the felony conviction prohibition regardless of whether the person has been restored to citizenship rights, and includes pleas of guilty, verdicts of guilt, and pleas of no contest or nolo contendere.

Submits the constitutional amendment to voters at the statewide general election on November 2, 2010.

Takes effect upon certification by the State Board of Elections if a majority of votes cast support the amendment.

Ratified by the General Assembly on July 1, 2010.
