Expands cooperative innovative high school programs to include five-year career academies operating within existing schools, in addition to existing models such as schools-within-schools and technical centers on college campuses.

Five-year career academies approved as cooperative innovative high schools shall continue using the existing school code of their host school rather than receiving a separate school code.

School districts may use state and federal allotments generated for these career academy programs and may transfer funds between funding categories.

Five-year career academies operating within existing high schools must maintain separate records to identify and evaluate students enrolled in the academy program distinct from the general school population.

Effective upon becoming law and applicable beginning with the 2010-2011 school year.
