Extends health benefit coverage under the State Health Plan to teachers employed by local school administrative units who have worked 10 or more months and whose jobs are eliminated due to funding cuts.

Currently, employees in other state positions receive noncontributory coverage if employed for 12 or more months before job elimination; this bill reduces the requirement to 10 months for school teachers.

Affected teachers must have been covered by the Plan at the time of separation from service due to job elimination.

Provides coverage for up to 12 months following separation from service because of a job elimination.

Effective July 1, 2010.
