A single absentee ballot application from a uniformed voter now covers all eligible elections during the same calendar year instead of through the next two regularly scheduled general elections for federal office.

The application remains valid for general, primary, and runoff elections for federal, State, county, and municipal offices where absentee ballots are permitted.

Special elections not involving candidate elections are excluded unless held on the same day as a general or primary election.

The law became effective upon passage and applies to all absentee ballot applications received after the November 2010 general election.
