Allows local boards of education to meet the minimum instructional requirement by scheduling either 180 days or 1,000 hours of instruction covering at least nine calendar months, providing flexibility for weather-related closures.

Permits days with early closures due to inclement weather to count toward the required minimum instructional hours under State Board policy.

Deems teachers employed for 10-month terms to have worked 180 instructional days and ensures all other employees are compensated for regularly scheduled hours even if 1,000 hours are completed in fewer than 180 days.

Applies only to local school administrative units and charter schools that missed more than 20 instructional days during the 2009-2010 school year due to inclement weather.

Effective for the 2009-2010 school year only.
