NC S1141

Establishes a 16-member Legislative Task Force on Sports Injuries with members appointed by the Speaker of the House (8 members) and President Pro Tempore of the Senate (8 members), including legislators, medical professionals, school administrators, coaches, and athletic staff.

Task Force shall study sports injury issues for all sports including cheerleading at middle school and high school levels, focusing on prevention and treatment of injuries.

Members receive per diem, subsistence, and travel allowances; Task Force may meet in the Legislative Building or Legislative Office Building with staff support assigned by the Legislative Services Commission.

Task Force must submit a final report with recommendations to the 2011 General Assembly upon convening and shall terminate upon filing the report or when the 2011 General Assembly convenes, whichever occurs first.

Becomes effective July 1, 2010.
