Duke University men's basketball team defeated Butler University 61-59 on April 5, 2010, to win the NCAA Division I Championship, marking the program's fourth national title.

Duke finished the 2009-2010 season with a 35-5 record, won the ACC tournament championship (18th ACC title), and were ranked No. 1 by USA Today/ESPN coaches' poll.

Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski achieved his 77th NCAA tournament win and tied Adolph Rupp for second-most championships in NCAA history with four titles.

Kyle Singler was named Final Four Most Outstanding Player, with Singler, Nolan Smith, and Jon Scheyer selected to the All-Tournament team.

The General Assembly expresses appreciation to the team, coaching staff, and athletic personnel, and honors Wilbur Wade "Cap" Card for establishing basketball at Duke University in 1906.
