Honors the life and memory of Alan Thomas Dickson, a Charlotte-based business leader and entrepreneur who died May 3, 2012, at age 81.

Recognizes Dickson's founding of Ruddick Corporation in 1968 with his brother Stuart, which acquired Harris Teeter grocery chain in 1969 and became a Fortune 500 company.

Acknowledges his service as president and board chair of Ruddick Corporation, roles at American & Efird Mills, and board memberships at Bank of America, Lance, Bassett Furniture Industries, and other major corporations.

Celebrates his extensive community involvement including founding trustee of Charlotte Latin School, trustee of Morehead-Cain Scholarship Program at UNC Chapel Hill for 42 years (chair for 21 years), and contributions to the U.S. National Whitewater Center and UNC Nutrition Research Institute.

Directs the Principal Clerk to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to Dickson's family.
