State Library of North Carolina established in 1812 as a collection in the office of Secretary of State William Hill, celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2012.

General Assembly honors those who contributed to the State Library's success, including Carrie L. Broughton, who served as State Librarian from 1918 to 1956 and was the first woman appointed head of a state department in North Carolina.

State Library serves as the official permanent depository for all state publications and provides specialized collections including North Carolina history resources and materials for the blind and physically handicapped.

Secretary of State directed to transmit certified copy of resolution to the Secretary of the Department of Cultural Resources and the State Librarian.
