Allows local boards of education to adopt consolidated school calendars as an alternative to traditional schedules to save money.

Requires consolidated calendars to include a minimum of 180 days or 1,000 hours of instruction covering at least nine calendar months.

Permits schools to compress 1,000 instructional hours into fewer than 180 days while still counting teachers employed for 10-month terms as having worked 180 instructional days.

Effective upon enactment into law.
