Amends G.S. 40A-42(a)(1) to include city property acquisitions under G.S. 160A-311(5) in the list of purposes allowing immediate possession and title vesting upon filing of condemnation complaint and deposit.

Applies exclusively to the City of Winston-Salem for acquiring property by condemnation for public transportation projects.

Title to condemned property and right to immediate possession vest in the condemnor when the complaint is filed and required deposit is made, unless an action for injunctive relief has been initiated.

Effective upon passage, ratified June 16, 2011.
