Expands the definition of pharmacy practice to allow pharmacists with proper certification and training to administer vaccines and immunizations recommended or required by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Requires immunizing pharmacists to hold current CPR certification, complete a CDC or ACPE-accredited vaccine administration certificate program, maintain three hours of continuing education every two years, and complete training for the North Carolina Immunization Registry.

Establishes age-based restrictions: pharmacists may administer vaccines to minors ages 7-13 only with a prescription order and parental consent, to minors ages 14-17 without a prescription but with parental consent, and to patients 18+ without a prescription or parental consent.

Requires pharmacists administering vaccines to maintain patient records, notify the patient's primary care provider within 24 hours if one is identified, and report administered vaccines to the North Carolina Immunization Registry within 24 hours.

Becomes effective October 1, 2011.
