House Bill 472 Summary

• Allows cities and counties to publish required legal notices on their websites instead of or in addition to newspapers, if they adopt ordinances authorizing electronic notice.

• Electronic notices must be posted on the government's website by the required publication deadline, with links accessible from the main page, and maintained online for at least one year.

• Each city and county must print and file copies of electronically published notices in a separate, indexed notice book maintained in the clerk's office for public inspection.

• Does not supersede requirements for mailed notice to specific persons or posting of signs on property as required by state law or local acts.

• Repeals four prior local acts relating to notice publication and becomes effective October 1, 2011.
