Requires custodial agencies to preserve any physical evidence reasonably likely to contain biological evidence from criminal investigations or prosecutions, regardless of collection date.

Mandates biological evidence be preserved in a manner preventing contamination or degradation, maintained under continuous chain of custody, and documented to enable location of the evidence.

Requires custodial agencies to provide defendants with a written inventory of all biological evidence in their custody upon request.

Requires custodial agencies to provide defendants with copies of court orders or written directives when biological evidence has been destroyed.
