Establishes a Joint Legislative Task Force on Diabetes Prevention and Awareness with six members from the House of Representatives and six from the Senate, each chamber designating one cochair.

Task Force shall study and recommend strategies addressing diabetes including risk factors, health care costs, wellness promotion, health care access, care coordination, Certified Diabetes Educators, community initiatives, and public education.

Members receive per diem, subsistence, and travel allowances under existing statutes and may exercise powers provided under G.S. 120-19 and related sections.

Legislative Services Officer shall assign professional staff to support the Task Force upon approval of the Legislative Services Commission.

Task Force must submit findings and recommendations to the Governor and 2013 General Assembly on or before February 1, 2013, and shall terminate upon submitting its final report.
