Honors the life and memory of Susan Mecum Burgess, who died on June 16, 2010, at age 64.

Recognizes her service on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education (1990-1997, chair 1995-1997) and Charlotte City Council (1999-2008, Mayor Pro Tem for seven years).

Acknowledges her leadership roles including chair of the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Commission, president of the North Carolina League of Municipalities, and member of the National League of Cities Board of Directors.

Notes her receipt of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine (North Carolina's highest citizen award) and the Order of the Hornet (Mecklenburg County's highest honor).

Directs the Principal Clerk to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to her family, which includes her husband of 43 years, four children, and seven grandchildren.
