Create an 11-member Radiologist Assistant Licensure Study Commission with representation from physicians, hospitals, radiologists, radiologist assistants, midlevel health care providers, and medical radiation physics experts.

Commission shall determine the number of qualified radiologist assistants in North Carolina, assess the need for licensure and regulation to protect public safety from radiation exposure, and recommend appropriate supervision levels and practice parameters.

Develop cost estimates for establishing a North Carolina Medical Board committee to regulate radiologist assistants and prepare draft legislation for the 2012 legislative session.

Appropriate $25,000 from the General Fund for the 2011-2012 fiscal year to fund the Commission's operations; Commission terminates after submitting its report to the 2012 General Assembly.

Act becomes effective July 1, 2011.
