Exempts persons lawfully summoned for jury service from paying ferry tolls when traveling to and from their residence and the jury service site.

Requires the Department of Transportation to adopt rules establishing a process for jury service travelers to demonstrate they are not required to pay tolls.

Adds new section G.S. 9-18.1 to codify that any person summoned to jury service using a ferry for travel related to that service is exempt from ferry toll payment.

Applies to all ferry routes operated under G.S. 136-82 authority, except the Ocracoke/Hatteras Ferry and Knotts Island Ferry toll-setting responsibilities remain with the Board of Transportation.

Effective upon becoming law.
