Amends G.S. 1C-1603(c) to revise the statutory form for debtors to claim exempt property in court proceedings.

Clarifies that debtors may claim residential exemptions of either $35,000 or $60,000 under section (8), depending on their entitlement.

Modifies the general exemption allowance to permit up to $5,000 in any property only if the debtor made no residential exemption claim, or claimed less than the amount they were entitled to claim under the residential exemption.

Expands examples in the exemption form to illustrate how unused residential exemption amounts up to $5,000 may be claimed in other property, including new scenarios for the $60,000 residential exemption.

Becomes effective upon passage.
