NC S165

Restricts the North Carolina Turnpike Authority's selection of transportation corridors for the Triangle Expressway Southeast Extension to existing protected corridors or corridors south of protected corridors established by the Department of Transportation circa 1995.

Exempts the area of Interstate 40 East from the corridor restriction, allowing the Triangle Expressway Southeast Extension to be located north of the protected corridor in that specific area.

Applies restrictions specifically to the Triangle Expressway Southeast Extension segment, which is part of projects including N.C. 540, Triangle Parkway, and Western Wake Freeway in Wake and Durham Counties.

Maintains existing requirements that any Turnpike Project selected for construction must be included in locally adopted comprehensive transportation plans and shown in the current State Transportation Improvement Plan before contract letting.

Became effective upon enactment on March 18, 2011.
