NC S220

Directs the General Statutes Commission to identify all collateral consequences associated with criminal convictions in North Carolina law, in consultation with the School of Government and the Administrative Office of the Courts.

Requires the Commission to determine which offenses carry ambiguous or multiple types of consequences under statute or rule.

Requires the Commission to provide recommendations on whether collateral consequences should be codified in a single section of the General Statutes or organized in another manner for clarity and consistency.

Commission must submit its report to the General Assembly no later than the beginning of the 2012 Regular Session.

Becomes effective upon passage.
