• Highlights historical Irish-American figures from North Carolina including Presidents Andrew Jackson, James Knox Polk, and Andrew Johnson, and other notable public servants.

• Acknowledges Irish-American military service and sacrifice across U.S. conflicts, including 20 generals in George Washington's Army and Audie Murphy, the most decorated soldier of World War II.

• Recognizes Irish-American achievements in commerce, entertainment, and the arts, exemplified by figures such as Henry Ford, Bing Crosby, and Judy Garland.

• Effective upon adoption on March 31, 2011.
