NC S505

Removes exemption that allowed academic medical center teaching hospitals to obtain certificates of need for facilities or services without demonstrating appropriate utilization of similar facilities at other hospitals.

Requires all rules, policies, and need determinations under the State Medical Facilities Plan to apply equally to all applications for a particular type of health service.

Amends G.S. 131E-183(b) to ensure uniform treatment of health service applicants regardless of hospital classification.

Effective upon enactment.
