Eight specific building code rules adopted by the Building Code Council on April 21, 2011, become effective January 1, 2012, subject to Rules Review Commission approval, covering topics such as fire code appendices, residential code egress doors, footings, foundations, and framing details.

The 2012 North Carolina Energy Conservation Code and 2012 North Carolina Residential Code take effect January 1, 2012, with mandatory compliance required by March 1, 2012.

The bill overrides standard administrative procedures under G.S. 150B-21.3 to establish these effective dates for the building code rules.

The act became effective upon enactment on June 23, 2011.
