Board members of the Board of Transportation must sign a sworn statement confirming they will abide by disclosure, ethics, and education requirements under G.S. 143B-350 and Chapter 138A of the General Statutes.

Before conducting business at each Board of Transportation meeting, members must sign a sworn statement confirming they have no financial, professional, or other interest in any project on the meeting agenda.

Board members with a financial, professional, or other interest in a project must work with the Chair to ensure the interest is properly evaluated and addressed according to law.

Members with a disqualifying conflict of interest are prohibited from acting on matters related to that conflict.

The act becomes effective upon passage into law.
