NC S940

Establishes in-state tuition rates for veterans at North Carolina public institutions of higher education without requiring the typical 12-month legal residence requirement.

Applies to veterans honorably discharged from the Armed Forces on or after July 1, 2011, whose last permanent duty station was in North Carolina and whose current abode is North Carolina.

Requires veterans to enroll within five years of discharge and to satisfy all other domicile conditions to qualify for resident tuition rates.

Limits in-state tuition eligibility under this provision to 12 months from the date the veteran enrolls in their degree or other program.

Effective upon enactment for academic semesters beginning on or after July 1, 2012.
