Honors the 85th anniversary of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, established on March 18, 1929, with the first training class beginning May 20, 1929, at Camp Glenn near Morehead City.

Recognizes that the State Highway Patrol has grown to over 1,600 officers and 400 civilians, serving to enforce motor vehicle laws and reduce collisions on North Carolina's 78,000 miles of highways.

Pays tribute to more than 60 State Highway Patrol officers who have died in the line of duty, including George I. Thompson, the first officer killed on July 2, 1929.

Acknowledges the dedication and commitment of all current and past members of the State Highway Patrol in making North Carolina's highways safe.
