Honors the memory of Arthel Lane "Doc" Watson, a legendary North Carolina singer and musician born March 3, 1923, and died May 29, 2012.

Recognizes Doc Watson's contributions to American music, including his influential flatpicking guitar style and mastery of Appalachian folk, blues, country, gospel, and bluegrass music.

Acknowledges Doc Watson's seven Grammy Awards, induction into the International Bluegrass Music Association Hall of Fame and Grammy Hall of Fame, National Medal of Arts, and National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Notes Doc Watson's collaboration with his son Merle Watson and participation in landmark recordings including the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" and his creation of Merlefest, an annual festival on the Wilkes Community College campus.

Directs the Principal Clerk to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to Doc Watson's family.
