Removes mandatory opening and closing date requirements for the Iredell-Statesville Board of Education, allowing the board to set school calendar dates with greater flexibility.

Eliminates the restriction that student opening dates cannot be earlier than the Monday closest to August 26 and closing dates cannot be later than the Friday closest to June 11.

Removes provisions regarding waivers for "good cause" and exceptions for modified calendar schools that previously limited calendar flexibility.

Applies only to Iredell-Statesville Schools and becomes effective for the 2013-2014 school year and beyond.
