Department of Health and Human Services provides temporary monthly payments to group homes for residents who lost Medicaid-covered personal care services eligibility due to January 1, 2013 eligibility changes, at up to $694 per resident for three months, then reduced to $520.50 per month.

Payments to group homes run from February 1, 2013 through June 30, 2013, funded from $39.7 million appropriated for fiscal year 2012-2013, with payments suspended during resident appeals.

Department provides supplemental monthly payments up to $268 per resident to special care units licensed under Chapters 131D or 131E for residents newly eligible for personal care services as of January 1, 2013, from March 1, 2013 through June 30, 2013.

Special care units must use supplemental payments only for services not covered by Medicaid and cannot apply payments toward Medicaid-covered services.

All temporary financial assistance terminates on June 30, 2013 or when the $39.7 million is depleted, and no state funds may be appropriated for these purposes in fiscal years 2013-2014 or 2014-2015.
