Honors the founders of Mecklenburg County and celebrates the county's 250th anniversary (sestercentennial) in 2013.

Recognizes key historical milestones including the county's formation in December 1762, the first court session on February 26, 1763, and the establishment of Charlotte Town in 1768 by Abraham Alexander and Thomas Polk.

Acknowledges the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence adopted on May 20, 1775, as the first declaration of independence in the Thirteen Colonies during the American Revolution.

Recognizes the 27 signers of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence and the subsequent Mecklenburg Resolves drafted on May 31, 1775, including patriots from the Alexander, Brevard, Harris, and Polk families.

Directs the Principal Clerk to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to the Chair of the Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners.
