Honors the life and memory of William "Pete" Cunningham, a former North Carolina House of Representatives member who served from 1987 to 2007 as the longest-serving member of the Mecklenburg-Charlotte delegation.

Recognizes Cunningham's military service in the Army's 82nd Airborne Division and Navy as a Radioman 1st Class, as well as his business ventures in Charlotte including a personnel agency and the Historic Excelsior Club.

Acknowledges his community leadership roles including service as Minority Whip (1995-1996), membership in the Legislative Black Caucus, work with the Anita Stroud Foundation, and founding the Excelsior Club Humanity Organization (E.C.H.O.).

Directs the Secretary of State to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to Cunningham's surviving family members, including his wife Carla and three children.

Cunningham, born November 7, 1929, died December 21, 2010, at age 81.
